Which allergens will be tested for sensitivity? How many genetic markers are tested?
The Food Sensitivity analysis will inform if you have any sensitivity to the most common food items such as gluten, lactose, cow milk, egg, peanuts, yeast, fish, soy corn, and shellfish amongst other foods.
The Pet Dander test will also look for genetic markers that makes a person more sensitive to pet dander, which consists of tiny particles shed from animals that have fur, hair, or feathers.
The test for Histamine will look at genetic markers that confirm if a person has the ability to break down excess histamine which is a natural compound found in food which is aged and fermented.
The analysis involves 30 genetic markers (SNPs) and every food items will be categorized in 8 types:
- Cow Milk Protein
- Pet Dander
- Other foods: tree nuts, soy, soybean, corn, yeast, fish, shrimp, apples,
It is important to point out that this is a DNA test and therefore the analysis is based on your personal genetic information. The test will determine your genetic predisposition to the specific food and pet allergy items tested for.
Reliable DNA Test
The laboratory has over 10 years of experience dedicated to helping people restore their body’s natural balance. The testing procedures follow the high standard protocols and use the most advanced technology. You can, therefore, rest assured of the quality of the testing.
How is the sample collection process?
Upon placing your order we will ship your DNA testing kit to the address provided. A simple collection of your saliva using our oral swabs is all we need to carry out DNA analysis in the laboratory.
The sample collection is simple and straightforward.
- Remove the swabs from the envelope.
- Rub the swabs against the entire inner cheek surface.
- Allow the swabs to dry.
- Place the swab in the envelopes and send back using the pre-printed envelope provided in the kit.
Visit our page about collecting a sample procedure for more information.
Results will be sent by email 6 weeks after receipt of samples at the laboratory.
The comprehensive report will show which allergens you are more sensitive to and will include a guide with dietary suggestions, food substitutions and recommended supplements.
The Food & Pet Sensitivity focuses will exclusively analyze the genes related to the body’s sensitivity to specific allergens. It will not analyse any other information such as diseases or medical conditions.
We recommend that you visit your medical professional for advice before you start making any changes in your diet and lifestyle.
What is a food sensitivity?
A food sensitivity is a reaction of your body to food digested. Unlike a food allergy, if you suffer from food sensitivity the adverse reaction is generally delayed.
Why should you take a food sensitivity test?
If you want to improve your health and have a better lifestyle it is recommended to understand if your body reacts to certain foods or not.
Many people struggle all their life with food intolerance, a suffering that can be avoided with a simple change in the diet.
What is the difference between food intolerance and food sensitivity?
Food sensitivity is a reaction of your body when you digest some specific foods. If you suffer from gas, bloating, fatigue, acne, diarrhea, or stomachache you may have a food sensitivity. Those reactions are not immediate.
Food intolerance is when your body does not have a specific enzyme, as a result after digesting some foods your body can’t break it down. The most common intolerance is lactose intolerance. If you suspect you may have an intolerance it is advised to take our Food & Pet Intolerance Test.
Which foods contains histamine?
Red wine and other fermented foods or drinks may contain histamine. It is not uncommon that some people may have difficulties to break down this organic compound.
What does it mean inconclusive in the result?
Inconclusive refers to an indeterminate result – hence the laboratory could not detect the alleles or a gene was not found. This is nothing wrong, it simply means that when analysing your sample the results were outside what the software expects, therefore the laboratory cannot say or not if there is a sensitivity.
Do I need to take this test every year?
No, you don’t need to take the Food & Pet Intolerance Test each year. The test analyses your sensitivity of your DNA. Your DNA does not alter through years; therefore you won’t need to take this test again.
